Create the plan-vs-run PNG of the tutorial 35_offline-load-balancing.ipynb

The script computes the offline decomposition of the tutorial's regular mesh along Peano's space-filling curve, keeps the cells along the periodic boundary on tree 0, and hands out all splits bottom-up. It then builds the tutorial's Euler setup with this hardcoded load balancing, runs it with four threads, and draws the offline plan next to the subdomains that Peano actually builds. Cells which end up in a different subdomain than planned are crossed out. Call the script from anywhere:

 python3 tutorials/exahype2/illustrations/35_offline-load-balancing-plan-vs-run.py

All builds and outputs go into a temporary directory (or –work-directory). The script needs matplotlib, but no ParaView.

Create the quantised-decomposition PNG of the tutorial 35_offline-load-balancing.ipynb

The script computes two offline decompositions of the tutorial's regular mesh along Peano's space-filling curve, the equidistant one and the quantised one, keeps the cells along the periodic boundary on tree 0, and draws them next to each other. It does not build or run anything. Call it from anywhere:

 python3 tutorials/exahype2/illustrations/35_offline-load-balancing-quantised.py

The script needs matplotlib, but no ParaView.

Create the split-mode PNG of the tutorial 35_offline-load-balancing.ipynb

The picture contrasts Peano's two split modes. Its left column sketches how a top-down and a bottom-up split hand over cells of a small one-dimensional spacetree. Its right column shows what the two modes make out of the tutorial's offline decomposition: The script computes the decomposition, builds the tutorial's Euler setup twice, once with top-down and once with bottom-up splits, runs both with four threads, and reads the subdomains from the patch files. Call the script from anywhere:

 python3 tutorials/exahype2/illustrations/35_offline-load-balancing-split-modes.py

All builds and outputs go into a temporary directory (or –work-directory). The script needs matplotlib, but no ParaView.

Create the PNG illustration of the tutorial 35_offline-load-balancing.ipynb

The script computes the offline decomposition of the tutorial's regular mesh, builds the tutorial's Euler setup with this hardcoded load balancing, runs it with four threads, and lets ParaView's pvbatch render the subdomains into 35_offline-load-balancing-subdomains.png. It reuses the build and render steps of 30_domain-decomposition.py, as the tutorial builds upon the setup of 30_domain-decomposition.ipynb. Call the script from anywhere:

 python3 tutorials/exahype2/illustrations/35_offline-load-balancing.py

All builds and outputs go into a temporary directory (or –work-directory). The script needs ParaView's pvbatch (–pvbatch).
